Clayton High School Makes 2013 List of America’s Best High Schools

Clayton High School has been named in Newsweek and The Daily Beast’s 2013 list of Best High Schools in America, ranking 179 out of 2,000 high schools and 20th in the Midwest. Other St. Louis area schools on the list include: Ladue Horton Watkins (166), Metro Academic and Classical (238), Lindbergh (334), Lafayette (357), Kirkwood (523), Francis Howell (617), Parkway Central (668), Parkway West (684), Parkway South (697), Eureka (794), Parkway North (889), Rockwood Summit (933), Marquette (1,000), Valley Park (1,742) and Affton (1,950).

Newsweek and The Daily Beast analyzed data from thousands of high schools to produce the final list of the top 2,000 schools. High schools were ranked based on the following college-readiness indicators recorded from the 2011-2012 school year: graduation rate (25 percent), college acceptance rate (25 percent), AP tests taken per graduate (25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores (10 percent), average AP scores (10 percent) and percent of students enrolled in at least one AP course (5 percent).
