District Families and Staff Donate 500 Winter Coats for Local Refugees
Thanks to the generosity of students, staff and their families across the District, more than 500 refugees and other needy individuals in the St. Louis area have coats to wear this winter. Clayton High School junior Charlie Brennan organized the coat drive initially to provide coats for the 172 Syrian refugee children living in the region. Based on the large response of donations from the Clayton community, the coats also were distributed to local refugees from Somalia and the Congo, in addition to residents living in north and south St. Louis City. These individuals will be much warmer this winter thanks to the support from Clayton’s school communities.
