The Clayton High School varsity girls basketball team earned the title of District champions on Thursday, March 2, with their 49-34 win over top-seeded Miller Career Academy. With the win, the Greyhounds improved their record to 22-5 and locked up the second District Championship in program history and the first since 1988.
Leading the way for the Greyhounds was senior Pierce Sams, who threw down 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Senior Brooke Jones contributed 9 points and 11 rebounds, while senior Claire Millett added 12 points with 8 boards.
The Greyhounds advance to Sectionals to take on the Lancers of Lutheran South on Tuesday, March 7, at 8 p.m. at Parkway West High School. Cheer on the team as they look to advance toward the State Tournament.
