  • It's Kindergarten Registration Time!

    Children who are five years old on or before July 31, 2013, are eligible to enroll in kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year. All forms required for official enrollment must be completed and submitted by July 1.   • Students’ Family History Stories to be Published

    Two Meramec Elementary fourth-graders will soon be published authors for their submissions to The Grannie Annie Family Story Celebration, a St. Louis-based nonprofit organization that publishes collections of stories written by young people about their family’s history.   • District to Save an Estimated $651,000 Through Installation of Solar Panels

    The School District of Clayton will save an estimated $651,000 over the next 20 years while reducing its impact on the environment with the installation of eight arrays of solar panels on six buildings across the District. The Board of Education approved a 20-year lease proposal from Microgrid Solar, which includes Microgrid’s donation of an array of solar panels at Wydown Middle School.   • STEM Projects Enhance Student Learning

    As part of a new STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) program with Kid Zone, Meramec Elementary fourth-and fifth-grade students put on their hard hats this spring for a fun construction project funded by the Clayton Education Foundation. The students accepted the challenge of building a 12-inch long bridge out of toothpicks, with the goal of having the least expensive bridge that would hold

  • Kindergarteners Practice Library Etiquette

    Meramec Elementary kindergarteners practiced their library etiquette during their weekly visit to the school’s library. Students were good “book buddies” as they shared the fiction and nonfiction books from the book boxes provided by librarian Jeri Lynn Palmer.   • Talking to Your Child about the Tragedy in Boston

    We were deeply saddened to hear the news of the bombings at the Boston Marathon on April 15. Our thoughts are with all of those affected by this tragedy. The physical, mental and social wellbeing of our students is always the top priority in our District, and our staff is fully prepared to support the needs of our students, especially during difficult times.
