WMS Students Have Successful Showing at Regional Science Fair

Wydown Middle School sixth-graders Kedar Venkatesh and Jesus Madrazo earned blue ribbons at the 2013 Academy of Science – St. Louis’ Science Fair, and sixth-grader David Corbo received a white ribbon. The projects were judged on May 1 and were on display at Queeny Park from May 3-4. Kedar’s project also was selected for a special award from Monsanto, which included a $200 prize.

Healthy Snacking and Exercise is Winning Combination for Wydown Students

WMS students have been learning why healthy snacking combined with regular exercise is important for their physical and mental well-being. In conjunction with the school's Fuel Up to Play 60 grant, Chartwells Food Service Director Bridget Jordan presented to all of the P.E. classes to discuss healthy snacking and moving for at least 60 minutes each day. Wydown Choir Teacher Earns Yale University's Distinguished Music Educator Award

Choir Teacher Jerry Estes has been selected to receive the Yale University School of Music’s prestigious 2013 Yale Distinguished Music Educator Award. This award is presented biennially to 50 music educators from across the country who are selected based on their outstanding accomplishments while teaching music in public schools. District to Save an Estimated $651,000 Through Solar Panel Installation at WMS, Across District

The School District of Clayton will save an estimated $651,000 over the next 20 years while reducing its impact on the environment with the installation of eight arrays of solar panels on six buildings across the District. The Board of Education approved a 20-year lease proposal from Microgrid Solar, which includes Microgrid’s donation of an array of solar panels at Wydown Middle School to support the school's application for LEED® Gold certification. WMS Math Team Takes Fourth Place in State

The Wydown Middle School Math Team recorded an impressive fourth place finish out of the 46 participating schools in the Mathcounts State Competition held on Saturday, March 9, at the University of Missouri – Columbia. Wydown Prepares for Final Trip Down the Yellow Brick Road in Current Theater

WMS Students Receive Grant From Dairy Council

Wydown Middle School cooking club students, along with teacher mentors, recently received a grant from the Dairy Council to promote good nutrition, sustainability and exercise at WMS.
