2012-2013 Grant Guidelines

The mission of the Clayton Education Foundation is to raise and distribute private funds to assist the School District of Clayton in maintaining and enhancing its tradition of educational excellence. During the 2012-2013 school year, the Clayton Education Foundation will be awarding up to $10,000 in grants. The Foundation’s efforts will focus on all grade levels and in all curricular areas - academic, artistic, athletic, extracurricular, civic and character development - with a focus on innovative projects that provide global, entrepreneurial and transformative opportunities for students and staff. Priority will be given to projects that:
  • Have a direct impact on students
  • Have clear and measurable outcomes
  • Are innovative
  • Demonstrate student, parent and community involvement
  • Further the District’s mission and long-range strategic goals
  • Include partnerships with other entities including, but not limited to, other schools, universities and community partners
The Foundation will typically not support:
  • Projects or programs that have been eliminated by the Board of Education
  • Projects that duplicate the efforts of other support organizations, such as PTOs.
  • Facility and infrastructure projects
  • Grants for religious or political purposes
  • Salaries for teachers or other outside providers
  • Funds for payment of speakers, incentives or rewards
  • Funds for travel, conferences or professional development
Grant Timeline and Procedures:
  • Sept. 28, 2012 - Applications are due by 5 p.m. Submit applications to Karen McBride in the Development Office or to the District’s Admin. Center (#2 Mark Twain Circle).
  • Sept. 29 - Oct. 21 - Grant applications will be reviewed by the Foundation Board.
  • Oct. 22 - 26 - Grant funds will be awarded throughout the week.
  • Grants must be implemented the second semester of the 2012-2013 school year.
  • June 30, 2012 - Evaluation report is due by 5 p.m. to the Foundation.
If the grant application addresses technology, an additional review is required by the District’s Chief Information Officer, Devin Davis. All applications addressing the purchase of software must have a signed copy of the District’s Technology Software Adoption Form. All applications addressing the purchase of hardware must have a signed copy of the District’s Technology Hardware Purchasing Form.

Grant awardees will be required to submit a follow up report including submission of project artifacts (photos, video, samples, testimonials, etc.), a financial report with all receipts and a narrative that describes results and challenges.

Submission of the grant application does not guarantee funding of the grant proposal.
