Clayton High School

Q & A

**Important Practice Scheduling Information for Parents and Players**

Designated practice sites and times are given to us by our coaches.  Practices are subject to change by the coach’s discretion or inclement weather (heat index over 105 F, excessive rain, lightning, or anything else that would make the field unsafe).  If a change is made because of the weather, practice will be moved inside to the Center of Clayton courts #3 and #4 or Stuber Gym depending on availability.  If practice can not be moved inside because of a lack of availability it will be canceled or left up to the coach on how to proceed.

**Knowing the Difference between an Official and Unofficial Practice Change**

All official practice changes (changes made by the athletic office) will be made prior to 3pm and updated ASAP.  So if a weather situation occurs past 3pm, an unofficial practice (change made by the coaching staff) change will occur.  Parents and players should follow the regular practice schedule and the coaching staff will make a decision on what to do next.

Wondering Who to Call???

It is our goal to help parents, players and fans get involved with Greyhound Athletics.  If you have any questions we are here to help.  Our office line is 854-6740 but please remember that the athletic staff is constantly supervising events throughout the day and sometimes we may not be in the office to immediately help you, so leave a message and I will get back to you ASAP.
Thanks, and GO GREYHOUNDS!!

Questions about Missouri State Rules?

Go to the MSHSAA Handbook page and click on the update handbook or go direct to MSHAA's website at www.MSHSAA.org.  The Missouri State High School Activities Association website will answer many of your questions that you might have about eligibility, events, rules, Q&A, etc....  It is a great resource to become educated and involved with throughout your child’s high school athletic experience.

Is Attendance Important if I Play a Sport??

YES!!  Every student athlete at CHS must attend all of their daily classes if they want to participate in their practice or game that day.  If a student is going to miss a class they need to make sure that it falls into one of the eight criteria for excused absences to participate in their desired activity.  Also if student is tardy to a class 3 times or more to a class per quarter they will receive after school detentions.  If a student is in after school detention, the detention takes precedence and the student will not be able to participate in their practice/game at that time.  Go to the Documents Page and open Student Absences and Excuses to make sure that this never keeps you out of an athletic activity.

Wondering who goes where when we have INCLEMENT WEATHER?

INCLEMENT WEATHER is weather that would make it unsafe for our athletes to compete.  Lightning, rain, snow, heat (over 105F heat index), or cold are examples of weather conditions that adversely affect our ability to practice outside.  If you go to the Documents Page you can read more about our protocol and try and get an idea of when and where practice will be.
