School District of Clayton

photo Thank you to the Clayton community for approving Proposition W – a $39.4 million zero-tax-rate-increase bond issue – to fund the construction of the new, state-of-the-art Wydown Middle School. Following three years of planning and one year of construction, Phase I of the building was completed for the start of the 2012-2013 school year. Phase II, which will include the gymnasium, auditorium and fine arts classrooms, will be ready this fall.

Clayton parents, community members and staff volunteered their time through the Wydown Tomorrow and Wydown Today efforts to establish priorities for the design of the new Wydown Middle School. These priorities were developed in order to provide students and staff with a high-quality learning environment that accommodates and enhances the school’s curriculum. The Board of Education and Clayton staff, along with construction management company S.M. Wilson & Co. and architecture firms Arcturis and Neumann Monson Architects, worked together to turn this vision into a reality.
