Welcome to School District of Clayton's

Family Center

We believe that information and support can strengthen parents' skills, competence, and sense of self-worth. This combination of skill and confidence promotes children's growth and development and fosters healthy families, which in turn enhances the community as a whole.

The School District of Clayton's Family Center is the family resource and early childhood education component of the School District of Clayton. Its programs are designed to support the growth and development of children and their families by providing parenting education, early childhood education, counseling, and other opportunities to build family connections within the school community. What happens in a child's family life is crucial to success in school. The family has the primary responsibility for the early learning environment and remains a critical influence throughout the child's years in school. Born of this belief and a commitment to helping parents do their job more effectively and enjoyably, the Family Center opened its doors in 1975. Today, the program serves parents and caregivers of children from birth through high school. This public school program model of parent and early childhood education has inspired many similar programs in the St. Louis area and throughout the country.
