The mission of the Clayton Summer Academy is to provide students with an opportunity to work towards their graduation from Clayton High School. The District considers the summer program to be a direct extension of our high school curriculum, expectations and standards of excellence. Due to overall program costs, the District annually examines its summer course offerings and some courses have been revised to reduce expenses. This year, four classes will be provided on a tuition basis (ACT Prep, Computer Applications, Field Research and Conservation and Great Start to CHS). Due to state laws, these classes cannot count towards graduate credits; they are for enrichment only. In addition to tuition classes, there are classes for students who need to recover credits in the four core content areas and a few offerings for students who would like to fulfill other state requirements. CHS counselors provide the best source of information on the appropriate courses for all students.

New this year, three classes will be conducted for a duration of six weeks (Academic Foundations of CHS, Conferenced English and Credit Recovery Math). These three classes will be held in the morning from June 3 - July 12. A Great Start to CHS will be offered for a duration of two weeks from June 10-21 or June 24 - July 3. All other courses will be conducted for a duration of four weeks from June 10 - July 3. American Government, Personal Finance and Physical Education are considered “accelerated curriculum” due to the concentrated nature of the courses.
