Alls Well That Ends Well

Below is the text of the groupcast sent out this evening.  Thanks to all for your support and help today.  While I truly believe it was nothing more than graffiti, we can never be too cautious.  Have a great weekend, it was beautiful today and hopefully tomorrow.

Louise

Good evening, this is Louise Losos, principal of Clayton high school I am happy to report that today was a quiet one and without incident.  I would like to thank all of you for your support and patience as we worked to make sure today was a safe one.

A particular thank you to the Clayton Police department.  They manned our doors, were a presence in the building and were unfailingly polite and helpful. The Police are continuing their investigation, If you have any information, please contact either the Clayton police department or send us an email.  The Police will continue to work with us on Monday by maintaining an increased presence, though not as much as we had today.

Finally, I would like to thank our students for being so positive and patient throughout the day, they made our jobs a lot easier.

In the end, our students are safe, our school is secure and we can learn from what has occurred.  Thanks to our teachers, our students and to our entire community for rallying around the High School today.

Enjoy your weekend, I hope it remains as safe and beautiful as it was today.

Greetings from the University of Chicago. I grew up in St. Louis and, though stolen away 45 years by the U. of C., remain involved in my hometown. I in fact publish the alumni newspaper for Normandy High, we think the only publication of its type and scope anywhere. When I read about the situation Clayton faced March 6 and how it was handled, I thought, "Well, that's Clayton High, always." Few high schools anywhere have the long, long history Clayton has of excellence, vision and holding it all together. My high school journalism teacher at Normandy, the legendary Mary Still, went to Clayton High because before 1923 Normandy didn't have a high school, and Clayton was tops even back then. Hats off to everyone in the Clayton High family for this latest example of being first rate.

While I am extremely grateful to the administration and Clayton Police Department for taking these threats seriously, I'm frustrated at the expense (monetary and time not spent learning) that our community must dedicate to ensure safety b/c of these bomb threats. I'd like to see the city/school district hold the parents of those involved financially accountable for the expense of the added security at CHS.

I want to compliment CHS on the great job of communicating information in the last few tough and stressful days to parents.

I'd like to offer a heartfelt thanks to Louise and Clayton Police Dept. for their handling of the recent threats at CHS. I appreciate the thorough and swift communications both by phone and email. Like many in the community, I am frustrated by these events, and hope the responsible person(s) will be identified, and dealt with properly.
